SAN ANSELMO resident Cecilia Zamora, executive director of the Latino Council, has received the Unsung Hero Award from the Institute for Women’s Leadership.

The award is given to an alumni of the institute who makes a difference every day. Zamora is president of the National Association of Commissions for Women, chairs the leadership committee for the Marin Women’s Commission, is president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Marin and is on the board of directors of the Marin General Hospital Foundation and the Workforce Investment Board of Marin. She also serves on the advisory boards of Bank of Marin, the Latina Breast Cancer Agency, the Marin Senior Advisory Council and the Marin Asian Advocacy Project.

Zamora runs a consulting firm, Zamora Associates, that specializes in leadership development and she chairs the San Rafael Leadership Institute.

Bank of Marin has been honored as one of 20 North Bay businesses and organizations selected for the North Bay Business Journal’s inaugural Corporate Philanthropy Awards.

The award recognizes organizations that contribute significantly to the betterment of the communities where they are located. Bank of Marin was selected in the size category of 101 to 500 employees and will be profiled in a special Business Journal section, “Partners in Philanthropy.”

Greenwood School in Mill Valley has hired Archie Douglas as its new head of school.

Douglas was most recently the interim head of school at Upland Country Day School in Kennett Square, Pa. He was previously at Pacific Collegiate Charter School in Santa Cruz where he served as principal.

Kristina Wandzilak, the founder of San Anselmo-based Full Circle Intervention, has developed a new program to provide individuals recovering from chemical dependency with the tools, knowledge, and support to succeed in long-term sobriety. The new case management program provides 12 weekly conference calls and other support services to people making the transition to residential and outpatient programs.

Business partners Greg Shoff, of Local Biz Marketing, and contractor John Arata, of bizbuzz LLC, have launched San Rafael-based www.bizbuzzit.com, an online marketplace for home services that uses disruptive technology to connect local service providers to homeowners for free. The marketplace offers turnkey services, where a customer can bid, hire, evaluate and share their information with their social communities.
